This site is owned by Jennifer Pinder . I have registered the PINDER name as a One Name Study , with the Guild of One Name Studies .
My own Pinder origins are from Lancashire and Yorkshire and track Social Change from Farm Labourers and Weavers , to Cotton Mill Workers in the late 19th Century . When the Cotton Industry went into decline my grandfather became an ” adapter of teeth ‘ and on to be a dentist , as was his son John Raymond , my father , and now myself .
Pinders have spread around the world , from slave owners in the Bahamas to slaves with the Pinder name .
Pinders were serving soldiers in World War 1 , and some of their stories should be told .
all Pinders are welcome to share their news and stories of interest .
Hi Jennifer,
I enjoyed your website.
All my Pinder relatives here in NewZealand are descended from Samuel Pinder, a builder, who emigrated from Leamington Spa around 1850.
Your photo has a definite Pinder likeness to those of us here in NZ.
Kind Regards
Alan Pinder
Hi !
My mother’s birthname is PInder, and I am looking for ancestors….very difficult for English people….
FYI : I have 2 ancestors William & George thought to be born in Barbadoes (circa 1785) from William Pinder a soldier in the George IIi army and …the unique daughter of a plantor (no name, even a first name; however most probably a coloured woman). At some time William, his wife and sons came back to setlle in Liverpool… i am afraid that Barabadoes could be a gneric name for…West Indies…From what I know William the soldier was sent firts to Quebec, then to barbadoes….thought to be born in 1759 Halifax, buried 1833 in the smae place…Wiliiam’s descendants founded a very famus circus in France !
if you could provide me with directions where to search….it would be great !
Hi there I’m going to have another go at finding this chap

Hello. I am descended from Pinders of Laxton, Nottinghamshire on my father’s mother’s side. In my genealogical research for my father’s paternal ancestors, I have encountered quite a few in the South Bradford area too. I came to this site today as spotted some in St Swithin’s graveyard, Holmesfield Derbyshire, and was wondering if anyone would like them, so to speak.
Hi, my ancesters are the Pinder family born in wantage berkshire, Thomas Hutchins Pinder was my 3rd greatfather, famous for being a tor in the 1800s with hos brother Richard Rawlins Pinder. I’m trying to trace their parents and then the next parents up from there. I think that Thomas and Richard’s parents are a William and a Catherine, unfortunately there seem to be a lot of William pinder around back then, very confusing. I wondered if someone could help. Thank you
